The Name Game

The debate of which is better when it comes to football, the college game or the pro game? Although they are the exact same sport, with the exact same rules and objectives, but the games are vastly different. We can sit here and argue that the age difference and speed is what separates the games from one another but I am not sure that is it. The pride the the college athlete has in their school and the tradition of that school in my opinion far exceeds that of a NFL player. The free agent era has forced once loyal fans to root for the jersey rather than their favorite player. They cannot allow themselves to get to attached to the "favorite" player out of fear that gut would leave for more money or the team would run him out of town for a younger cheaper version of him. We know that every year Florida will play Florida State, or Michigan will battle Ohio State, and the biggest of them all..... ILLINI vs northwestern. Yea I said it. These kids are going to fight like hell on the weekends then attend HIST 200 during the week. You got to love it! In the NFL we have short memories and deep pockets that help sweeten us up after a lose. With the exception of a few "pro" college programs these kids don't get paid and in turn they are playing for the name on the front and not the name on the back of their jerseys. Now don't get me wrong the NFL is intense and i love it to death, but this blog is from a fans perspective. I am and always will be a fan of this game, that trumps being a player any day of the week in my book. That is all....

  2. Jason,

Big bears fan....glad you caught on w/ the Jets.

    love the blog.

I prefer NFL to college. I don't have any sound evidence for this but I will do my best.

The parody is outstanding. I get sick of NCAA teams opening with cupcakes at the beginning of the year. NFL games usually aren't 67-0 routes.

NFL has playoffs. The most exciting sporting event in the world is the Super Bowl (maybe game 7 of NBA Finals is close).

I will tell you this...if the NFL has a lockout in 2011 as rumored I may become enamored with NCAA football and never come back.

Best of luck with the J-E-T-S...

    Bears fans wish you well!

Are you still on the Bears madden roster? If not, I will be pissed!
